Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. The award-winning Prager winery is located in Austria's Wachau region, famous for its excellent white wines. The winery owns over 18 hectares of vineyards spread across the area's poor, rocky soils and planted with Gruner Veltliner and Riesling grape varieties. The Gruner Veltliner grapes come from the Zwerithaler vineyard, one of the highest and coolest in the region, located on the Buschenberg in a sheltered valley above Weissenkirchen. Here, the vines enjoy a particularly cool microclimate and arid, primary rocky soils. These conditions, combined with low yields and careful selection in the vineyard, ensure the production of wines with remarkable freshness and longevity. After vinification, the wine rests on the lees, acquiring depth and complexity. The Zwerithaler Gruner Veltliner Kammergut Smaragd is an elegant and expressive wine with an intense, layered aromatic profile that alternates notes of wild herbs and citrus, green apple, and quince, over a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is powerful and crisp, dry and concentrated, with a medium body and a taut, vibrant character. It has a pronounced acidity, a distinctive minerality, and a long, elegant spicy finish. Try it with veal fillet with mushrooms, roast turbot, or a Gruyère and asparagus tart.
